Did you know?

A USDA Food inspector may visit your location at any time and conduct an on-site inspection in front of your customers.

If your Meal Prep Company is not USDA approved:

A USDA Food inspector may visit your location at any time and conduct an on-site inspection in front of your customers.

IF THEY FIND NON-USDA APPROVED MEALS, THEY WILL:

  1. DESTROY the meals in front of your customers (which would be a tremendous embarrassment)
  2. Issue you a “one-time warning” after which they can and WILL levy a hefty fine.
  3. How much is that fine? It is $500 per every ounce of protein that you have then have in stock.  Assuming that you have a meal that contains 5oz of protein that single meal would represent a $2,500 fine alone.  If you had only 10 meals on hand…. $25,000!
  4. Who can afford that kind of financial or reputational hit?

So why doesn’t everyone obtain a USDA approval for their meals?  The answers are simple:

  1. The first reason is GREED.  Non-conforming meals are cheaper to make.  They aren’t manufactured to strict health, safety and proper food handling standards.
  2. Those companies would rather sell a cheaper product that might have been compromised by inadequate temperatures when produced, packed or transported to your retail location.
  3. The bottom line is they simply can’t afford to create the safe environment mandated by the USDA needed to cook meals in a truly clean and consistent environment.
  4. They can’t afford to have a full time USDA inspector on hand to review and approve their meals (AS WE DO)!
  5. While (giving them the benefit of the doubt) they might try to list ingredient and macro content accurately, the bottom line is can you really be sure that what you are reading is what you are getting?

And ask yourself….do you actually believe that companies producing meals without oversight are going to hold themselves accountable for proper shelf life standards?  At the end of the day you and you customers run the risk of getting.
